A design workshop led by Professor Namba, asking for a sustainable way to redevelop Nihonbashi while keeping the old city’s context. Rather than rebuilding everything at once, we aimed for spaces that hold together at every step of a gradual process.

The key idea was a “remote space” — connected visually but separated physically, like a theater’s stage and seats. We reduced it to a single rule: a “stage” placed on each rooftop must be visible from the “seats” of the surrounding buildings. Most of the time those seats serve as each building’s shared space, but the moment something begins on a stage, the whole neighborhood rises into a single room — a loose set of connections, multiplied step by step.
